Lakeside/Meadows at Shaker Run Golf Club
About
Conveniently located less that 30 minutes from Cincinnati in the city of Lebanon, Shaker Run Golf Club offers 27 holes of championship golf. Arthur Hills designed the original 18-hole course in 1979 and the design team of Michael Hurzdan and Dana Fry added the Meadows nine 20 years later. Each nine has unique characteristics, providing three diverse 18-hole combinations when played together. The Lakeside/Meadows Course combines the nine with the most water, Lakeside naturally, and the longest nine. While it may be the lengthiest, Meadows is also the gentlest since it was added as a player-friendly complement to the other golf courses to make Shaker Run more approachable for a range of skill levels. The layout has a rolling landscape that is unique for an Ohio course, and in addition to the water there are also several strategically placed sand traps.

#9 Lakeside Photo submitted by stover3928 on 10/18/2012
Spiffy
pace of play was a little slow, but otherwise everything was good.....great layout.
Still a great course
You need to play this course a few times to learn where to hit the ball.
Poor Course Condition, Even Worse Customer Service
Wow, what a terrible experience. Booked for Lakeside and Woodlands but when I check-in, I'm informed that there are two outings going on so we're put on Meadows. Meadows is in TERRIBLE shape. The bunkers were not playable - not a single one. The greens were in bad shape as well. Fine, we finish 9 on Meadows and then we're told to tee-off on Lakeside. 2 holes into our 9 on Lakeside, the tell us that we need to go to Woodlands instead. There was no one in front of us but they forced us to switch 9s. We get to Woodlands and there is a 3 group backup on the first tee.
At this point, I've had enough. Go inside and they won't issue a refund. They offer a gift certificate for 18 holes but won't refund my credit card. Finally, they call the manager and I'm thinking this is going to get resolved. No. The manager will only offer a gift certificate. The worst part, at no time did anyone apologize.
The only thing worse the condition of the course was the customer service. They should be ashamed. Don't waste your money. Too many other great courses around Cincinnati/Dayton.
Tale of two sides
We played Lakeside to Meadows. Lakeside was in great shape and played very well. Our second side was Meadows. Meadows is in terrible shape. Many of the greens had places on them that you could not putt through. The bunkers were so bad that it was just pick your ball up. I will not play Meadows again. The superintendent should be embarrassed at the condition of the Meadows. Overall, the course layout was good. We played on a day that had rained earlier so we were the only people on the course.
Lakeside/Woodlands
I really enjoyed the round, played the Black Tees at 6500+ yards. The course is in great shape - the greens rolled really nice and smooth. They were fast but not crazy. All the greens were very consistent. This was my first time to play here but I will definitely come back. A quality layout that you need to think about positon for the next shot before hitting (especially for anyone who hasn't played here before). Excellent day.
Also - there is a really good range: level grass hitting area with quality turf and good balls.
Greens and fairways in excellent condition. Shaker has cut down many dead trees and improved the look of many holes.
Shaker Run
The course was in decent shape and it looks like they are in the process of making some needed updates to the course. They did not have any water coolers on the back 9.
Over Rated
The insects (flies) were pretty distracting at times.
Bunkers need some attention.
Sand less in shaker run
Overall the course is beautiful but it needs bunkers repaired on Meadows Course. It seems that you end up playing that course due to outings taking place. Also Woodlands and Lakeside courses bunkers so called sand is dirt with rocks. To claim to have the most challenging golf course that being Woodlands it is due to the fact thebunkers are not kept in shape. When you play plan on waiting for members being catered too.
Wow
This course is in great conditions !! Tee to great was awesome! Greens rolled true and were a good speed and fairly consistent overall. A few holes were tricky I.e. Not knowing where exactly to hit the ball- I like 150 sticks in middle of fairway but most of them were straight away and fair.
Backed up on 1
For a course with 3 nines they sure don't have much imagination on how to use them to get everyone spread out. tee time was 8:03 but teed off at 8:20. At times had 4 foursomes on the same hole course was in great shape!
Great layout in great shape
Shaker Run is a solid golf course. Fun to play. A couple of very memorable holes like the last hole on both Valley View and Woodlands. All four par threes are challenging. The greens and fairways are in great shape. The 19th hole is lacking and the staff was below average.
Shaker is in Great Shape
Shaker is in good shape these days --- tees, fairways, rough all good! Greens very good and quick. Get out there & play it in these conditions.
Misled and disappointed
My wife and I were happy to go play Shaker Run. The reputation for a nice course was correct, but the rest was very disappointing. The people inside the clubhouse were more interested in talking the regulars who walked in behind us, then talking with us. We booked online for 18 holes and a cart and a 4:27p tee time. I knew it would be close getting in 18 at that time of night, but never anticipated leaving the course around 7p and still not having completed the front 9. There was a league in front of us and we had to wait over 5 minutes on every shot. Had I just been charged 9 holes and told there was a league in front of me, I wouldn't have been upset. So despite the gorgeous weather and beautiful course, we left after playing 7 holes (yes, 2.5 hours to play 7 holes). I understand it being a weeknight and league night, and I understand courses don't care much about Golfnow players because of the discounted rates. However, it was very disappointing to say the least.
Best Layoit
One of the best layouts you'll ever play. The course isn't what it use to be as far as course condition but is still a great place to play.
