The private Royal Oak Country Club sits 15 miles from downtown Cincinnati and features an 18-hole championship, as well as plenty of practice facilities and a massive clubhouse, at 17,000 square feet.

Royal Oak Country Club's course was designed by Bill Diddel, a prolific Indiana architect who's faded into obscurity. A charter member of the American Society of Golf Course Architects, Diddel was born in 1884 and saw his first round of golf before the turn of the 20th century, perched on a hill in the Crown Hill Cemetery that overlooked what has become Indianapolis' Woodstock Country Club. He would go on to win Indianapolis's City Amateur as a high school senior and five Indiana State Amateur titles - as well as leave his mark on more than 250 golf courses, most of them in the Midwest.
